The cord is so tightly twisted the unit can move far
The cord started twisting the first time out of the box and it's only gotten worse. I've tried to stretch it. leave it in the sun, keep it wound on the caddy, etc. but the minute it's released it twists around itself in clumps again and then the unit won't go all the way across the pool. What can I do?

Are you reversing the handle after each use? If not the cable twist is worse. Orient the handle in the opposite direction of the twist and run the cleaner in that direction until you get the twist(s) to relax. If all else fails you can replace the cable with a more expensive one that has a build in swivel to minimize twist.

Where the handle attaches to the side there is a latch that you press down on. When done the handle can slide from one end to the other, possibly with two intermediate catches along the way. You should have each side of the handle 'opposite' the other which in turn centers the handle when upright directly above the impeller.
The latches are circled in the picture.
