"right" click on the icon that you would normally left click to play it, and a little menu window will pop up, click on "properties" then click on the "compatibility" tab, and in that window tick the box to "Run this program in compatibility mode for:" then select an option from the drop down list, such as "Windows XP (Service Pack 3)" and then at the bottom of the window click "Apply" then close the window and try to run your game. This should work if its just a compatibility issue... so lets hope (fingers crossed) This site may give you a walk through on how to do this, with photos to help you.
