The garage door gets almost closed (maybe an inch or two off the ground) and then it goes back up again. The sensors both have a steady light (amber and green) and there are no obstructions - we have cleared any cobwebs or debris etc

Many garage door openers also have an adjustment that's on the unit itself. Should be two adjustment pots. These are for "pressure" up and one for down. You might have to adjust these, as the pressure may have changed from use.
