The ignition switch seems to be going flaky. If I don't take the key out very carefully and just pull it out like I have for the last 4 years, the ignition seems to think the key's still in the car, a
The ignition (where I put the key in) seems too sensitve and unless I take the key out in just the "right" way, and just pull the key out, it seems the ignition thinks I still have the key in, leaving the chime on as I exit the car, making me turn off the lights manually (I love the "automatic" feature), and not opening my locks. Is my switch going, or is the RKE wierding out (need cleaning? I tried the never-used second and the same thing happened.) Or is the cold playing tricks on me? I don't want to spend for a new ignition switch. Does the battery in the RKE have anything to do with it all?

Im pretty sure you can rule out the rke being the problem because of the fact that you said the same thing happens when using your other key. Most every car made has 3 main components to the the ignition switch. There is the mechanical portion which is the part the key goes in then there is the electrical portion which butts up against the mechanical portion and they are encased in what is known as an ignition switch cylinder. What happens usually is the electrical portion which is made out of plastic wears out from continuous use . This is not an uncommon thing. Happens all the time. Even the fact that it doesn't always happen is common. Take it to a reputable mechanic and explain exactly what is happening and they should be able to help you out. Good Luck!
Won't help because the problem is the electrical portion of the switch and the air won't reach it.
ignition switch is easy to replace. there are saturn sites on you tube and the internet that show you how to replace it. though you might need to reprogram your bcm. I had mine rerouted by my mechanic and it works fine
