Depending upon where the cord is damaged, you can either cut it a little shorter and install a replacement electrical plug end (available at any electrical parts store (Lowes, Home Depot, Radio Shack, etc) for about $2.50. Or if the cord is damaged near the vacuum, you can purchase another cord or even make up one yourself how ever long you want it within reason.
