The manual focus seems not to be continuous, as approaching focus the step motor messes the focus to backfocus and vice versa.. !? I can turn the focus ring sometime focusing nearer and nearer but in some point something odd happens and the step motor transfers the focus too far. When turning back the same thing may happen

What kind of device are we talking about here? Actually, it doesn't matter, since this type of problem almost always requires servicing. Servicing or buying a new camera is always a process you have to make the call on. Get an estimate from a camera shop, and go from there.
