The overflow pipe broke off when I was installing a new fill valve. I bought a new flush valve that came with a thick, pink gasket. When I used this gasket, the tank doesn't sit close enough onto the bowl and it rocks. I tried using the old gaskets (black one inside tank) and of course I get leakage. Am I placing the pink one in the wrong place?
I haven't seen a pink one, but the new gasket should fit over the nut on the new overflow. Keep tightening down the bolts slowly a little bit at a time on each one until the tank doesn't rock. Check on it for a week or two to make sure it doesn't leak. If you don't like the seal that came with the kit, you can buy a different one for a few bucks at the hardware store.
