You player needs to be diagnosed in other to know actually which is causing the problem. Before you do any replacement you need to be sure of the fault, if its the mechanism or the lens. I'm very sure that its one of the two that is causing the problem,.
Before this problem began, has the lens been skipping discs or giving any sign of weakness?
If you don't have a technical idea about this player, I would advice that you take the player to the nearest repairman to fix the fault for you.
