The power cord for my Kindle doesn't seem to make contact with the Kindle. I was able to charge it by tipping the cord upward at the Kindle end but that doesn't work anymore either

If you a different power cord you can try , try that......
If that don't work then the connection is busted where the power cord hooks up. Need a small electronics repair shop to fix that.
