Depends on the motor. The end bell on each end that has the race that the bearing slips into used to all be steel. In more recent years they may be made of aluminum. The odds are a lot better if the bells are steel. Aluminum is softer and may not grip as well. In either case if the new bearing isn't tightly fit into the race you can "shot peen " the inside of the race to give it a better grip on the bearing.

Yes,can be repaired. Replace both front and back bearings along with the shaft seal. Good luck.
