The pump works for a minute with the jets, then sops, then starts
I have a crack in the pvc pipe and had it replaced, now when I turn the pump on, it seems to build up pressure for a minute, the jets work, then it looses the pressure and the jets go off.

You need to check the door on the skimmer and the water leavel on the pool. If the door is stuck or the leavel is low the pump will **** the skimmer dry and cause the problem your describing. Try these first and good luck.
