You may need to install a new pull rope. This isn't novice work but it is common sense work. Mower may have other issues as well. A small lawnmower engine has 4 things that are crucial to its operation (besides the obvious pull or electric start system). They have to have clean motor oil (SAE 30 usually in summer). Clean air (good air filter). Fresh, clean fuel. (not over 30 days old). A strong spark from the ignition. Any thing deviating from these things inevitably causes problems. The shroud and cover wil have to be removed to install new rope. Its not rocket science if ya'll want to attempt it Take your time and note or draw which screws go where as ya remove um. Loading the recoil spring for rope is an endeavor not too easily done but you can do it.
