The scope ring will not close completely ' its like it is for a smaller scope got a replacement from meade and the threads in the female side will not accept the screw, not stripped just ,,,wrong thread or something?

You can either contact Meade for a better screw-- or just take it to your local well stocked hardware store and find one that will work.
Personally-- I would find a replacement screw locally.
