The shredder jammed (too much paper) then stopped and won't shred. It makes a noise, but when I insert paper, it won't shred. Is there a reset button? I picked paper out of the blades with a pair of tweezers. Thanks!
Chances are, the overfeed caused the teeth of the gear that operates off of the motor to break. This is very common in less expensive machines. I don't know if OM will let you return it because I don't know there policy. Most of the time retailers will attribute broken gears to abuse, which in turn is not warranted. These machines are mainly mass produced in China and obviously are very cheap. The labor and part (s) to repair are more expensive than replacing the machine. If you do, look for a higher quality German machine i.e. Intimus, Olympia, HSM or Dahle. They cost more but they have a nationwide service arena and parts are always available.
