Two things spell trouble for these poorly engineered units:water and thick soap...
Inside these pumps is a metal ball for the check valve. any water in your soap will corrode this ball, causing the pump to lose it's prime...
Using soap thats too thick (like Dawn) will cause the soap to harden around the moving parts and impede the pumping action. Try a thinner soap, such as inexpensive pink hand soap.DO NOT ADD WATER! (See above)
I just got one of these pumps working by soaking in water overnight, then working the pump action under a hot water tap, working the hot water into every hole in the pump, top, bottom, and along the sides. After about 3 minutes of hot water work some gunk came out and it started making sucking sounds, After another minute it seemed like it was pumping so I put it back together, lowered it into the soap container and pumped away. About 50 pumps later it started squirting soap! Let's see how long it lasts.I just got one of these pumps working by soaking in water overnight, then working the pump action under a hot water tap, working the hot water into every hole in the pump, top, bottom, and along the sides.
