The system is slowing down when I use WD 500 GB
Here is the problem. When I one day entered my Western Digital My Book 500 GB Essential Edition. Windows Explorer slowed down, very much. When closing this & restart the machine. I tried again. Nothing seemed to happen at all. I am running a 32 bit system Windows Vista. HP Pavillion dv9000. I am running another external hard drive while running this hard drive. A Transcend StoreJet 500 GB. When trying to get into the filesystem on the WD. The system slows down & I need to restart the system by pushing the on/off button. I have reasons to believe that it has something to do with Windows Explorer, since this is what slowing the system down every time I go into the WD disk. What can I do?

Hi mortonwood12. it could be two things. 1.- you have way too much information on that drive and 2.- either the enclosure or the hard drive is going bad. (Sorry to be this harsh). What I recommend is get another hard drive and backup all your data "pronto"!. Then remove the hard drive from the enclosure (it could be a little tricky) and then trying connecting the hard drive internally. If you still have the same problem, then it's the hard drive. Dont use it anymore. I wont get any better. I hope this helps and please dont forget to rate and provide positive feedback for our free support today. Thank you :D
