The trimmer was running fine when I ran out of string. I add new string and now I can NOT get the trimmer to start! I tried unscrewing the spark plug, making contact to the metal of the engine and pulling the started cord to see if there was spark but can see none. So first should I see a spark? and second a suggestions on what to do now??
Adding a new string has nothing to do with your spark. If your checking for spark make sure the spark plug is grounded to the engine either use a screwdriver to help you ground it. Lay the plug on the screwdriver shank then pull the cord. If still no spark remove a wire of the ground switch then try again. If you get spark then the switch is the issue if still no spark then you may have to check the leg gap of the coil to the flywheel. Adjust to around 11 thou if you can. If still no spark then i'd go on record to say you have a faulty coil.
