The truck starts up and during traffic driving or idling, the truck just dies. I need to stop and place in park and restart the engine. A few moments of minutes later, if left idling, the engine will stall again only to retart later. Other than that the truck runs fine and smooth. Someone suggested it could be my gas cap, but I cannot see how that can create an engine stall. Please advise
The gas cap can make your check engine light come on do to not enough vaccum in the take for your evap system and it could cause the vehicle to run a little funny. but highly unlikly this is your problem.if there are no trouble codes or no check engine light this could be very hard to diagnose on-line you may want to take it to a respectable mechanic and have them run an on board diagnostic test on it
