The trunk will only intermittently open from the key fob or the interior button, most of the time I end up having to open the trunk using the key. Posted this with not much response. I'm hesitant to buy another remote as this is the third one I've bought for this car

You might want to try to reseat the connection to the solenoid on the trunk lid inside right by the latch if that does not work check the relay
