The unit will not power on. There is no noise when the the speed selector is in the on position. The electric socket works, the beater can be turned by hand, but the unit won't power on

This model as configured for NZ will not start unless you move the speed control from the off position to any one of the speeds. In other words it will not start if you turn it on at the wall when the speed control lever is already in any on position. You must start from the off position first. I have also seen one fail to operate because the power wires from the speed control to the motor had come slightly unplugged inside the housings.
The dpeed selector is in the off position when I switch the unit on. The loose wires are something I will check. Thank youThe dpeed selector is in the off position when I switch the unit on. The loose wires are something I will check. Thank you
The problem has been fixed. The previous owner had not cleaned the stand mixer very well. Ever. There was so much gunk inside where the speed selector was that the unit wouldn't operate until all the gunk was removed. The Stand mixer works great now!
