The volume control and mute button cannot be controlled by the remote control. The remote will work in switching the channels. The TV cannot be turned off by the remote. Comcast has tried using the codes 10180 and 10171 to solve the problem, but were not successful. Please advise how to solve the problem and get the volume control, mute button, and off power on the remote to work. Thanks.
Hello Is the remote control in mention is its original one? If not, send me the details of the remote control you uses with this device now. If the remote control is its ofiginal one, there will be some dirt or dust problem in between its inner button contacts or some break in the tracks inside. Breaks in the tracks are irrepairable, as they are carbon tracked. If it is due to dirt and dust, you can open the remote control and clean it. Just open it by slide its upper and lower case part from its side, using any sharp instrument, whout breaking the edges. There wil be a printed circuit baord with three of so components including an IC. Clean its surface of the printed circuit board, which just contacts the touch buttons, with a piece of soft cloth, dipped in rectifed spirit or medical quality turpentine. Never use petrol or such strong solvents, as they will damage the rubber part of the remote touch pads. Reset it and check. if it does not work even, your remote control cannot be repaired, and new one shound be bought. Most universal remote controls won't go with Symphonic. You have to buy its original number to work with all functions. The origitnal number can be bought from most of the electronic sparepart shops at your town. OK.

Check if the remote control emits an infrared by directly aiming the sensor(infrared emitter) to your cellphone camera. You will see the flash of the infrared if the remote control response to the pressed key. Watch this Video for more info on how to do this.
If you've confirmed that the remote control is working fine, this is an indication that your TV is not totally compatible to the remote control. Every button key has a specific frequency emitted to give a command to the device.

Firstly, we need to determine if the remote is working correctly:
1) remove batteries from remote 2) press each button on the remote twice (do this one button at a time). This will discharge any residual current stored in the remote's capacitors. 3) insert fresh batteries (ensure these batteries provide good charge)
If this does not reset your remote (or still does not work), then suspect your remote is faulty.

Hi there,
Firstly, we need to determine if the remote is working correctly:
1) remove batteries from remote
2) press each button on the remote twice (do this one button at a time). This will discharge any residual current stored in the remote's capacitors.
3) insert fresh batteries (ensure these batteries provide good charge)
If this does not reset your remote (or still does not work), then suspect your remote is faulty.
Please let me know the outcome of the above test.
Cheers,
