There is no power from the battery except when I first connected the leads then every thing is all dead except for the clock on my matrix 125 (2009)
When I first connect the leads everything lights up for a moment even when switched off, but then everything power wise go's off. Why is this and how can I solve it

You probably have a dead or discharged battery - take it out - and take it to a local auto parts dealer - they can test it for you - it probably regenerates enough power to partially work when you leave it for a while - the clock draws very little power - so it will probably be the last thing to go out -- if the battery checks out as ok - start looking for a short
this is a difficult area - and I'm not good at electrical - but have tried to resolve some problems in the past - it helps to have a shop manual - to understand the layout - but if you have a multi meter ( I bought mine for about $50.00 you can use it to track current flow between the variuos connections - I had to buy a "guide to automotive electrical, in order to understand the different ways of testing - but you basically have to start with one wire and check continuance along the route - then the next part of the wiring system -- etc- its a learning process - the starter motor may be burnt out or damaged - but you will need to see the manual to know how to check it - you can get most manuals on line for about $35.00 - up to $85.00 for the manufacturers manual - or download on line for about $10.00 - better than paying $85.00 (+) shop time -
