No AM is alsway an antenna problem, if the antenna connections are ok and the antenna checks good then the radio needs service, but 1st look for defective antenna issues like rusted connection or loose wires.
u never said you thought the radio was the problem, 9 time out of 10 it is the antenna. are u a skilled electronics tech? that is what it will take to repair this, careful component testing is required, a Hands on job. Hello. Go to any CB radio store and purchase a compatible AM TX antenna. Joe
Check the configuration:-
switch 1. NB/ANL
RF PWR switch. LO
BAND switch. HI
TB switch. ON
Lower knobs set to AM and D/A
