Toastmaster Coffee Maker, Model No. TCM12PW, made noise & smoked
I have been using the Toastmaster Coffee Maker, Model No. TCM12PW, for approximately 6 months and have been quite satisfied with the product. However, this morning while I was drinking my second cup of coffee I heard a loud pop coming from the area where the coffee maker was still plugged in (it still contained a cup or so of brewed coffee). When I went to investigate the noise, I smelled something burning. I immediately turned the coffee maker off and unplugged it from the wall. I then noticed small puffs of smoke coming out from the spot where the wire comes out of the base. I am very thankful that I was in the room to hear and see what happened. Is there a problem with this model? A worried customer - Pat Farley

Well I can tell you that your heating element and the connection that plugs into your electrical cord certainly shorted out. After going through some consumer reviews that particular model is not too well spoken of and has caused considerable problems from spill overs, leaking internally (not good for electrical connections) and operation as a whole. There are several forums that you can read actual customer comments such as your own. For the price of what that one costs at a discount I do not know whether your best solution is to get it fixed. Since it is relatively new I would get on the internet and google coffeemakers in general and you will get a good idea for a more reliable and safer replacement.
