Toshiba M35X-S149 laptop, lose video on boot-up
I have a Toshiba M35X-S149 laptop and on boot-up I have no display. The screen is lit but black. After about 20 - 25 seconds the screen, still having no display, turns off. I can see it go black (not lit). The computer appears to continue the boot process as the hard drive continues to work.
I tried a desktop monitor, connected to the laptop, and at boot-up I have a small green indicator light on the monitor and I get the Windows XP screen. After about 20 - 25 seconds the screen goes black and the small indicator light turns amber. It appears I lose the video signal. Again, the boot process appears to continue as the hard drive is working. Any ideas what might be happening or what the fix might be? Thanks, Ray

Please note; I just re-soldered the "Maxum Max1532a Power Driver Chip" on the motherboard. Before I did this the laptop would not boot at all (On each attempt to power up, the laptop either does nothing, or the fan spins up, LEDs blink and then everything shuts down). If it were a bad solder - could it be interfearing with the video signal after 20 - 25 seconds? The fix can be found with site for details at; imateski.blogspot.com/2008/08/toshiba-satellite-m35x-motherboard.html
