Tranny slipping and chugging
One day it runs fine. The next day it chugs and the tranny slips and catches and jerks. I shut it off and it runs fine again. Clogged cat perhaps?

Run fault codes and look for a TCM problem. The cat converter has nothing to do with a slipping transmission but dirty / burnt oil and or blocked filter in the transmission will ..Check the oil and if it is not bright cherry red have it replaced along with the filter.
I agree you can take the pan off and repce the filter but the oil is replace by using the transmission pump to suck in a set quantity of the oil. Transmission shops have the equipment and know how to do the job quickly. They will be also be able to adjust the bands and clutches while the sump is off.
