transducer on a MinnKota Riptide ST
I have a MinnKota Riptide ST 80 w/autopiliot, etc.. I am adding a Lowrance HDS sonar on the bow and would like to mount the transducer on the trolling motor. However, it does not look possible - at least in managing the transducer wire.. Any thoughts?

Did the unit come with a strap to mount the transducer to a bow mount electric? Most units do... If not there is probably one available for the unit as an aftermarket accessory or accessory from the manufacturer... Regarding the transducer wire, just wrap and rout this up the front of the bow mount motor shaft so when you pull the motor up and secure it, it is not going to get in the way. You could cable tie the cord down near the bottom of the shaft and one up near the top where they wont interfere with the motor bracket when the motor is positioned up on the boat.
You basiclally have a power drive system for salt water. Did you get the US2 universal sonar model? if not then you will have to mount the t'ducer on the bottom of the motor using a trolling motor mount from lowrance.
Because of the way you have to stow and deploy these motors, you can only zip tie the t'ducer cable at the top of the shaft and have loose wire all the way down the shaft to the transducer. It is not the best system but with a bit of care you can make it functional.
Be careful when bringing you motor up and down that you do not accidntally pinch the transducer wire.
Hope this helps.
