Transfering video to pc
Hi, I have a older model JCV high-band digital video camera. The camera records on mini DV tape. I was wondering if it is possible using a 4pin cable to transfer my video to my laptop

Is this a JVC or a Sony (as on the header which says Sony DCRTRV265E Digital 8)?
If it's a JVC MiniDV it takes different (much more common these days) tape. EITHER machine has the type of connector you need to do the next part of the job:
If your laptop has a DV/Firewire/i.Link (all different terms for the same type of connection).
All you need is the right cable; generally, laptops have the same type of connection as the camera (small 4-pin connector, flat on one sice, convex on the other.) Make sure to get a generic cable; no need to spend $$$ on Monster etc. Of course, you need software that's capable of capturing. Best is to get a package such as Adobe Premiere Elements (there are numerous others). WIndows has a movie making application but it's VERY limited.
