Transmission or rear end
I have a 1998 Cadillac Catera i'm thinking the transmission or something is out. I went from spiningn ice to dry pavement and the car just stopped like it was in neutral, but the drive shaft still spins it has quiet clinking noise just wont move i don't know what is wrong.

You blew out the pinion gears in the differential
Pinion gear is out. You will have to have car towed to a reliable auto center, they will go through the system.
It may be quite expensive.
Very difficult, only a automotive tech should do the work. They have very expensive tools to make sure the job is done correctly.
It the unit is not installed properly it could shell the component, and you DO NOT want that happening driving 70 MPH down the highway !
