I had this problem and it was a dirty stop switch. With the machine off, tap the stop switch several times to loosen up the debris/dust around the switch, vacuum to remove this stuff, put some WD40 on a paper towel and then rub the towel against the sides of the stop switch so it returns to the top easier.
Do a friction test- put key in console,without pressing ANY other buttons, make incline go up to 10. then push yourself off backwards, if diffacult, this is friction,like rubbing hands together, no lube under walking belt- walking belt needs to be replaced, when it shuts down belt stops but console keeps going- its friction
