Do you have a heat pump and gas furnace setup? Or is it electric and gas setup.
To me it sounds like either configuration issue its electric and gas, but if its heat pump/gas the furnace is defaulting to gas more then likely on the outside air temperature, usually most heat pumps only heat good down to 10 degrees F.
