Trying to figure out how hood latch works. Hood was bent in slight accident and latch stays in partially open position where you can stick your hand in and open with the hood lever. It never connects to lowest latch part that is opened from inside the car. Can't figure out if not going down far enough or if something's broken. Latch pulls inside and we see spring move at bottom of latch, but can't figure how it works or is supposed to look to see if something's broken. Pictures and diagrams would help.
