I believe there were some early promotions on streaming devices that included a "Trial-Period" for Netflix, or one of the other services. For under $10.00 a month, Netflix isn't very expensive, and allows streaming to multiple devices, up to four I think, for no additional charge. There are several other channels carried on streaming devices that are in the same ballpark as Netflix, and monthly fees go. Roku does have many available 'Free' channels that can be found in their 'Channel Store,' but typically if you're looking for newer content, there's a subscription fee. Even with two, or three of these subscription, you'd be paying far less than most cable subscribers.
