Because of heat and high voltage concerns, these projectors contain many protection circuits. During powerup, the circuits are "tested" for proper operation and certain conditions must exist or hte unit will power down. A blown lamp will not cause the unit to shutdown. It is rare for a ballast to cause this as well. I would be looking at the power supply module first. If the unit was performing OK prior to this powerup failure, I would suspect the power supply.

This would be the bulb or the ballast that powers the bulb ether witch will need to be fixed. I would take it to a local shop to have it looked at.
