Tv on, screen black. cannot access source and only way to shut it off is to unplug it. Tv is in same set up as originally set. This problem just recently occured

Problem would be in the Main Assy board the one that you connect cable/av inputs up too. You can try resoldering board first or odre new main board Call Encompass Parts 1-800-638-3328
Can you solder are do you know what capacitors are? if so remove back and Look for bad capacitors on power suppy board if you see any that are puffed up on top then they are bad 1000uf 16v and 2200uf 25v caps. Also resolder the Main Board it is the board that you connect cable/satellite DVD/VCR inputs. For capacitors/supplies call Mats Electronics 1-800-628-1118
