On start-up green lights come on and the scanner seems to go through all the buzzing as normal.
However after a short while the scan head starts running up and down the length of the inner support shaft.  I will not stop and the start point but continues to run up and down, slowly.
Have reloaded software and checked connections and cables. Is the motherboard cooked.
