Unit crashes then will not restart after being unresponsive
Archos 504 unit crashes. Screen stays blank but green power LED remains lit, then unit will not power down when 'on' button is held for 15 seconds. Only way to power down is to remove battery. After removing battery and refitting, the unit will not switch on at all. Connecting via USB to PC also has no effect and there is no charging. Last time this happened, the Archos 504 was operable again after 3-4 hours. Today was the second time this has happened and the player is not yet operable. I often have smaller crashes (unresponsive and loss of screen) where the unit can be powered down by holding the 'on' button then turning it back on again where a normal startup screen appears. Any ideas?

After removing the battery, I discovered a small brass reset button, about 3 mm in diameter, near the battery connection terminal. This was gently pressed with a pen for 15 seconds. After refitting the battery, the unit was fully functional again. This reset results in needing to set the clock again. No other settings are affected.
