unlock the unit in the owners manual supplied with the units, and there is no button marked "Lock". The other unit is unlocked and works OK. I would appreciate your comments. Thankyou

Take the battery cover off and at the bottom there's a padlock icon - push a small pin in and press the 'reset' (or unlock) switch - job done.
