Urn key, new battery, tests high, turn key, nothing
Periodically and predictably after a rain or wet turned to freezing day - turn key , nothing; standard transmission;bypassed safety switch, no change. Cap covering wires to starter relay showed overheating signs. Removed wires cleaned posts tightened nuts down. Problem persists. However if I persist holding key on for 7 seconds at a time after 3 -4 tries it will start but acts as if there is electrical resistance. Mechanic cannot suss it out.

I could suggest replacing the coil pack while your in there replace the spark plugs( as preventative maintenance) any check engine light? usually that's an indication of a misfire
