V, and VGA inputs. I Don't have cable so I cant test on coax input. I have tested the TV without the back plastic panel on and the image remains bright and easily watchable. I first assumed that I had a back light power inverter problem so I replaced the entire inverter board, but that made things worse (screen wouldn't come on, just got a red blinking light and no sound). I have checked for swollen capacitors on all board and haven't found any. Voltage to inverter board is 23.9-24.2V. The only thing I can think is that it's a heat issue but thats vague at best. please HELP! -Rob
Go to this website use the Google search bar, Encompass Parts Distrubtion type in your model number then find Main Board the board that has tuner and AV/inputs on it replace that Board. they might also have service manual for this set. 1-800-638-3328
The reason there is no picture is (95%, certainty) the loss of the high voltage. The high voltage is what produces the energy for the raster lines upon which the video is modulated.
Therefore, the video and deflection circuits may be working just fine but you cannot see because there is no high voltage to the picture tube.
Now, it is possible, also that power to the picture tube filaments has been lost, or that the power supply to the biasing voltages is defective or that the picture tube sockets are corroded, but the overwhelming cause among TV sets is loss of high voltage.
Refurbishing the high voltage will probably cost $250 or from anywhere you go. Even if you do it yourself and buy the parts wholesale you will not save a tremendous amount. So, unless you are very handy and know how to troubleshoot, solder, repair and test, I think you are better off finding a good shop for the repair.
This is not a Hear Issue. This Set had been in Fame for the Problems Customers had within 2 Years of Purchase.
This is not a Power Supply Problem. Usually this is an Inverter Board Problem, but as you already replaced that, it eliminates this. We are left with Few Details :-
1. You may have a bad lamp. This is not an economically feasible repair. The lamp is part of the panel and can only be replaced by replacing the entire panel. The replacement would cost more than the TV.
2. I did like you to remove the cable that connects the main board to the LCD panels' TCON board which is located top and center of the panel. Closely inspect it for a film of oxidation, or anything else, if in doubt take a PENCIL eraser and erase the gold contacts, NOT LITERALLY,just buff them with a pencil eraser, because that eraser has JUST ENOUGH abrasives in it to remove oxidation without removing the gold.Plug it Back in and see, if that helps the situation.
is the T-CONN board, it has the LVDS cable going to it and the main board.First, we wiggle the LVDS Cable to make sure that there are No Loose Connections. Next we Disconnect LVDS from T-Conn Board and we made sure that Cable would not touch any metal. Then we Turn ON the set.
Now,
You could Follow the same and see, if Screen is Bad. If So, then Panel is Faulty. ( which i guess it's not the Case here ). If OK, It could be a Main Board or T-Conn problem. Make sure that there should not be any Loose Connections.
I do not want you to Experiment because, this would really Cost you many Bucks. There is no way to Check T-Conn Board because it is all Digital and needs oscilloscope.
If you have a Spare T-Conn for this Model or you have a Friend / Shop who could give you for a Day or two for testing, that would be helpful. There are few vendors who Offer the parts, and allow you to refund the Part ( Minus Shipping / Handling Charges ) if the Problem remain the same.
Let me know, if needed further assistance.
Hope i helped you.
Thanks for using ' Fixya ' and have a nice day!!
