Vacuum works, but makes an irritating rattling noise whenever I use it. Both speeds. There is not debris in the blade that I can see when I remove the handle and turn the brush while looking into motor with a flashlight

There are moving parts that are likely the culprit. Start by examining the brush roll and make sure it is not loose or to see if the brush roll is not being held tightly in place. If it is loose it will rattle around.
