There is not really a true 'universal remote.' If the remote is of older design than the set you wish to control, it will not contain the code set you need. Before you buy another, check the mfr's website for code sets for any given model remote to ensure you aren't buying another one which will end up in a drawer. Unfortunately, this is a very common problem.
