You don't. That sounds like an ink issue in the screen. That usually happens when it is dropped/damaged/sat on/crushed. Contact vivitar and tell them it came like that (even if it didn't). Otherwise, they won't replace it. My old digicam did that and I had to either pay to get it repaired or buy a new one. With these being so cheap, its not worth paying for repairs.
