VIDEO CASSETTE RECORDER WITH HDD (HDR-B2735D)
I only have just bought this machine but can not seem to get it up & running at all! & the manual is far too difficult for me to grasp. I just wan to try everything before I return the product as I am not at all sure if its the machine are just me being thick!
1. I have a Digital TV with intergrated Freeview but I canonly tune in the Funai into the anologue & not the digital channels, at all!
2. I have connected the Funai the same as my old DVD recorder which tuned into the Digital Channels.
3, Another strange thing is that the Funai says it takes DVD-R & DVD-RW dvds but although I have bought several different makes it keeps coming up as Disk Error. I hasten to add that a previous dvd disk,(that had already been recorded on) being the same make as some the blank discs that I have tried played ok
4. Can someone please help if only to explain in easy english (Very easy) what to do & try to get this horrid machine up & running, It would be much appreciated, Thanx!!

Becasuse of the fashion in which these units are manufactured, some slip through that have problems. Don't waste time on this. Return it for an exchange. DO NOT open up the unit as that will void the warranty and prevent the exchange. The laser in the optical assembly has a few functions that require different power levels or proper operation. Since the unit will read all discs, that portion of the unit functions properly. When attempting a record function, other portions of the optics assembly are engaged. That portion has a problem that was not caught at the factory. Return the unit.

Brand new machine so dirt on lens is not an issue.
tried diff types of dvd's yet still getting same error.
either bad lens or the circuit board inside that translates the information read from the disc to show on the tv
Hi!!!
yup!!! u try to return it
Its not a big problem....this may cause due to problem in ur board soldering wiring connection..loose connection will also create this sort of problem...
follow this instruction to solve ur problem
1 Check the disc you're using for scratches and dirt. If the disc is damaged it won’t play properly, regardless of the DVD player’s ability to function. You can use a DVD repair device like the "Disc Doctor" to repair the DVD or purchase a new DVD.
Step2 Make sure the discs you're using fit the correct format specified by your DVD player. For example, if your DVD player doesn’t support home-burned DVD-R's, then you can’t use a DVD that you made at home. You may need to upgrade to a newer model, most of which accept the latest DVD formats.
Step3 Clean the laser lens with a DVD laser lens cleaning disc. DVD laser lens cleaning discs can be purchased at most electronics retailers or online. Insert the laser lens cleaning disc and follow the instructions.
Step4 Insert a correctly-formatted, undamaged disc into your player. Listen to see if it begins to read the disc. If it continues to make no sound and gives you the same message, then the problem is probably that your disc is not spinning in the device.
Step5 Turn the device off and unplug it. Take off the outer casing by removing the three or four screws and lifting the top piece off. This will allow you to see if anything is simply stuck or jammed. If this is the case, a simple nudge back to the correct position will fix the problem. Step6 Clean the lens while the DVD player is open. A dirty lens is most likely the cause of your no-disc error. The lens should be cleaned with isopropyl alcohol and a cotton swab.
Step7 Take your DVD player to have it professionally fixed only when none of these other solutions solves the problem. A professional repair technician will be able to tell you if fixing your DVD player is worth the money.

Try using old-fashioned 2x DVD-RW discs, eg the cheap ones from Datawrite.
This seems to work in my machine MOST of the time.

Based on your reply on #3 I suggest that you dont even bother going forward. These type of DVD player recorders tend to be picky in the disks that it accepts. There is no way around that or fix for that so the best and simplest solution that I can honestly give you is to return the unit this early and save yourself the headache. (honest opinion) but if you want to work at it we can do so too.
