All of a sudden, when i turn on the 2 yr-old tv, all i get is a blue screen w/a "no signal" message, and the tv turns itself off after 5 seconds. Vizio L37 blue screen only, "no signal", then turns itself off

Connect the signal source like cables
Then go into the Channel/Signal menu on your set and select signal source.
Then go to SCAN or auto program and SCAN in all channels.

If you still get the message no signal . Then you have a bad cable /ribbon connection inside . Change this cable .

It will cost you $35 for replacement . You can do this replacement if you have service manual with you .

Else you can take to near by service center to get it repaired .

hi..the PCB supply could also be faulty.

Just hold down the input button on the right side of the tv. This is the bottom one. So,
With the tv off,
press and hold the bottom button (input)
when the tv turns on, and you see the input menu
release and press the button to put the tv into a mode that works!

Almost always a 'blue screen' is indicative of 'no signal' which means that the TV could not sense any incoming TV reception. Pls try to check:

cables and connectors at the back of the TV;
your cable subscription and cable provider connections;
try using another video source such as a DVD or even an old VCR;
if you are using a receiver box, check the connections;
alternately, you may want to try switching 'SOURCES' on the TV such as Tuner, Line 1, Line 2, AUX, Video 1 or others.

Try an external signal source such as a DVD, video cam, game console or an old VCR and set TV to Video Input. If problem persists, then it would be the video processor of the TV. On the otherhand, if there is video using another//external source, then the fault would be with the tuner block of the TV. This is of course if you have confirmed that the cable TV is working by checking with another TV.

If you are considering a DIY (do-it-yourself), then this would require opening the TV, familiarity with electronic components & circuitry, use of a DVD/VOM and a soldering iron. It would be to your added advantage access/referencing a Service Manual or at the very least a schematic diagram. Should you be uncomfortable going this route, perhaps your best bet then would be to seek the services of an authorized service center or a qualified professional.
