Vizio TV that won't turn on gets 5v standby power but 19v for all the pins that are supposed to be 12v
The TV is a Vizio D55u-D1 that is 3 years old and out of warranty. When power button is pressed, the white led indicator turns on, fades, and sometimes blinks, but eventually turns off. The led will randomly turn back on occasionally when left plugged in. The screen NEVER turns on. I get no sound and I have pointed a flash light at the screen and do NOT see a picture at all. When tested with a multimeter, the power board if putting out a stable 5v in the standby pin going to the mainboard. The corresponding pin on the main board is also reading 5v. The strange thing is that the pins on the same connector that are supposed to be 12v ALL read 19v instead. Could something on the power board be busted and causing the 12v to jump to 19v? Would that explain why my screen is not coming on? I read somewhere that my TV might be in "protection mode" because it is reading the incorrect voltage. Should I be buying a new power board? I have already bought a new main board and swapped it out with no change. Any ideas?
