Volvo XC90 6 disc CD player reads DISC ERROR, please help!!
Hello,I have a 03 Volvo XC90; it has a 6 cd changer (6 cds stuck inside) (product # 32110457, and software update# 8691147), all of the sudden it completely stopped working and reads DISC ERROR. I brought it to dealership, because they said that sometimes they can hook up an electronic device to the vehicle and force the CD's out of the unit. Unfortunately I am not so lucky this time. Now they are saying I need to get a new cd unit for the vehicle.
I have an extra CD player lying around (NOT a Volvo one) a local car audio shop, is claiming that I can not put in another unit other than Volvo's. However I talked to VOLVO dealership today and they claim I can, but I have to bring it back to dealership to get a software update to ensure that the airbags will work properly.
Is there any "magic" trick to get it to work that I have not been told?Does anyone know if I can put in a different cd unit, and if not any recommendations on where I can purchase a refurbished cd unit? Thank you for your time, and energy! Have a great day!

Try this to eject cartridge
PRESS AND HOLD eject button
Insert credit card under cartridge,push firmly in,then move left/right
Try several times ,what it does is locate a micro switch which sticks
This works on all cd stackers providing it has no other problems

Could you please explain what you mean by cartridge?
Do you have an in-dash CD unit? If so, try to reset the system by unhooking the battery cables. Wait a few minutes before reattaching. It worked for me! P.S. The battery is in the back of the vehicle under the 'flooring.' Weird...
