I would call Vornado at 1-800-234-0604. They have great customer service- and usually have really good warranties with their products. I bet they can get you figured out. Any time I have had any questions, they have been very helpful. Vornado is also on Twitter, by the way - so if you "tweet" then some people ask questions via twitter too. I have always had good luck with their fans...
