A few weeks ago my wife's mother got her timing belt / water pump / and timing idler pulley done on her 97 ford escort 2.0 L .everything seem to be doing good she drove it well over 500 miles . well to day her engine light came and at first then all the rest of the light came on and her car staled and she could not get it back running

Have you checked the timing belt and cylinder compression ? You may have to take it back to the shop that did the belt job.
