Adding a cd/dvd to a desktop is a simple job. If you purchase a CD/DVD burner, make sure it includes the burning software. If you get a read only, you don't need any software.
Open the case, put the cd/dvd in, attach the IDE cable, attach the power cable (all of this should be in the case already). Power the computer on, go into the BIO screen (depending on the computer, you have to hit either F1 or F2 or F12, or DEL or Insert (it really depends on the motherboard, what key you use). Tell it to auto find the CD, Save and Exit. That's it! If you get a burner, the steps before are the same, you just have to install the software after it boot up.
